⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️4 STARS⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’m trying to figure out how to start this blog post but I’m coming up short.

I don’t want to start being messy at the beginning, I feel like I should wait until the middle at least…ok, that’s what I’m going to do – the middle. Please keep in mind that I blog right after reading my books so I can get the most raw emotions out.

Ok, so….

Written in the Scars by Adrian Locke is a really good book. I loved how it focuses on an established relationship, a marriage. It’s not just about that pretty stuff that happens when you first meet someone. This is when shit gets real.

Here’s the summary from the author….

Falling in love is easy.

Falling out of love is the hardest thing in the world.

And Elin and Ty Whitt are terrible at it.

The first time the local basketball star smiled at Elin, she was a goner. It was just so damn easy to fall for the dark-haired hometown hero with his charming smile and strong, athletic build.

Thousands of sleepy smiles, aimless drives down country roads, and squeaks of the backdoor after a swing shift later, reality hits. And it hits hard. Falling in love was definitely the easy part. Watching it break apart was impossible.

Through the tears, the second-guesses, the memories of a life built together, the world keeps spinning. With each turn comes clarity and hope—sometimes in the form of a pair of muddy boots by the back door or from the words of a wise friend.

When Ty shows back up with a new found determination to put his family back together, Elin’s torn between the fights of the past and the possibility of a new start. This is the man that holds her heart, the man she loves beyond anything else. But this is also the one person in the world that can cause her the most pain.

Life’s not always easy. Love’s not for the faint of heart. But with life comes lessons and Ty and Elin have the scars to prove it. But it’s their love written in those scars that will hold them together … or break them apart.

Now that we have that out of the way, let’s get messy….

I am a die hard Adriana Locke fan, she is a brilliant writer. Even if this booked sucked I would still read anything and everything she ever wrote. Good thing I don’t have that problem because this book is really good.

She once again proved she is a beast when it comes to writing.

SLAYYYYYYYY bitch, SLAYYYYY!!! YASSSSSSSS!!!

I’m just in my feelings because in my last few books someone died and I can’t take this anymore. I’m about to go crazy!!! Good news is that there is a happy ending and both main characters are still alive. Elin and Ty do not die! Someone else does 🙁 🙁 🙁

It feels like a bunch of authors got together and decided they were going to kill off someone in their books this year. I’m pissed at whoever organized that little get together. It is unnecessary to kill someone off in every romance novel. Shall I repeat? It is unnecessary to kill someone off in every romance novel. That’s why it’s called a romance novel, because we want our happily ever after.

As well written as this book is, I did not think killing off someone added to the story. In fact I think it took away from it.

That was my little rant….I feel a bit better now. No, I just lied, I don’t feel better. But I will eventually.

Back on the subject of marriage…

Marriage is fucking hard, trust me, I’ve been doing it for 10 years now. You’re feeling change, you grow up, you learn, you live all while connected to this other person. Everything you do effects your spouse and vica versa.

Ty and Elin met in the 8th grade, which means they know each in and out. Ty has always prided himself on being able to take care of Elin. When Ty gets injured on the job and unable to work he starts to like less than a man.

Elin is a teacher and has to pick up an extra job teaching evening classes at the local high school.

Money gets tight, bill start to stack up, guilt begins to settle in and on top of that they are trying to have a baby. With all of that being said it’s easy to see why Ty starts to feel emasculated. Any man would.

But here’s were Ty fucked up, he LEFT. Yep, his ass LEFT.

Now that my dear Ty is something you don’t do. You just don’t get to grab your shit and leave while leaving Elin alone for weeks with no contact. Seriously, WTF. Not only did he leave the house, he LEFT town. Oh, hell no!!! Have you lost your mind. That’s not how a marriage works love. You stay and you fight for yours.

….but he came back.

Of course.

They always do.

And he fought for his wife, his marriage and his life. Now that’s what he should have done in the first place but men are idiots. Sometimes you just have to help an idiot out and cut them a break. Hahahahahaha!!!!

It’s an awesome book and worth the read.
