⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️4 STARS⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Who doesn’t love a crazy love story? I know I do! Little secret… I like them in real life too. Crazy, unhealthy relationship are so fun and the sex is amazing. I’m speaking from personal experience here.
Fight hard, fuck harder
I had a flash back to when my “ex” got arrested after we started fighting at a club because he touched my friends boob. To this day I’m not 100% sure what happened because I so drunk but it was classic behavior for us.
Closer by Mary Elizabeth is the perfect crazy, wild, unhealthy, sexy love story.
This one is going to be equal parts pretty and messy. Just know that no matter what I write, I loved this book… even though I was pissed that if left on a cliffhanger.
I fucking HATE cliffhangers. I normally steer clear of them until all books are released. I would not have read this one yet if I knew it was a cliffhanger. Whatever.
It’s time to get started with a quick word from the author…
Synopsis
Gabriella Mason is damaged.
Teller Reddy is wrecked.
Misery loves company, and that’s exactly what Ella gets the afternoon her path crosses with Teller’s: the misunderstood premed student who instantly becomes her lifeline when she moves to Los Angeles, an attempt at escaping her heartbreaking past.
In the beginning, Lonely and Defensive complete each other. But in the end, their relationship is like broken glass—cutthroat and jagged.
Calling it off before they kill each other, Ella and Teller decide to “just be friends” despite the intensity that binds them together. It’s a delicate foundation rocked by tragedy, effectively destroying the illusion they’ve so carefully built.
Unable to deny what’s between them any longer, this is what happens when wrecked and damaged collide and close is still not close enough.

Before you read this one, just know, this book goes between the past 7 years and the present.
Teller and Gabriella stressed me the fuck out of me in the best way possible. Teller is officially my new book boyfriend and I will hurt anyone who tells me otherwise. I am completely love him in the most unhealthy way.
Let’s get into it, shall we?
You can’t hide love between two people no matter how hard you try. That sums Teller and Gabriella up in a nutshell. Teller and Gabriella were in love and not that cute love, they were in that all consuming, life changing love. They were soulmates. Anyone and everyone who spent more than five minutes around them could see it.
No matter how many times they tried to let go of each other, they couldn’t stay away from one other.
“Teller…”
“Don’t do this, Ella,” he says. His voice breaks.
“You said it yourself. You said we can’t go on like this.” I place my palm over my heart, searching for signs of life. Surely I won’t survive this pain. “We went too far, Teller.”
Three days later, they are always back together. They were always back to the same old song and crazy dance.
Quick note: Gabriella’s relationship with her brother was so precious and really hit home with me. My sister quit school to take care of me when she was a teenager and I was a bucket of tears reading about their relationship.
“I never did anything I didn’t want to . You’re my baby sister, and taking care of you has been a gift.” – Emerson
Her brother had such a tough time handling their relationship. I can’t blame him, they basically emotionally abused each other for years.
“Tell me what this is,” I whisper.
“Tell me what this isn’t.”
When they decided it was time to explore an intimate relationship, I was team Teller and Gabriella all day. With Kristi and Joe dead there was nothing holding them back. I know that seems insensitive but it doesn’t make it any less true.
Their relationship may not have been perfect, but it was them and that was everything. No one had to get them as long as they got themselves.
Unfortunately, there was a tragic loss before they gave themselves to each other in every way possible. They both lost their significant others in a car accident at the beginning of the book.
Kristi did more than warm my empty bed until she didn’t – she gave me perspective and taught me patience. I can have a connection with someone that isn’t volatile, and I have the ability to show affection without jealousy.
Maybe.
And the most important thing I learned because of Kristi is no one has my heart like Gabriella Mason. – Teller
Affection without jealousy…
Yeah, that never happened with Gabriella, their jealousy was ridiculous. Just saying.
I think whether Kristi and Joe were alive would not have made a difference in the long run, they would have ended up together.
What if I told you they never had sex during their crazy ass love affair, would you believe me?
“It’s been four motherfucking years, Ella, and we haven’t kissed, we haven’t had sex, and we haven’t committed to shit. We can’t go any slower, babe.”
Crazy right?
So how was their mindset? How did they love each other?
It would be easier to break the motherfucking door down and drag her out by the back of her shirt, but we’re on an airplane, and there are rules about that kind of thing.
This is an example of the crazy mindset of their relationship. Teller’s first thought to get Gabriella out of the bathroom is to break the door and drag her ass out. What?!?!?! Even though we all know he never would have done that, I think. In the end, he does what his true nature is and finds a way to calm her like no one else could.
That’s what I love about these two, no matter how dysfunctional they are, they complement each other in every way possible.
And what about what happened in Las Vegas?
I could have smacked the shit out of Teller when he was found with the cocktail waitress after they finally decided to go exclusive after 7 years.
Amanda, the cocktail waitress from the pool, has Teller pushed against the wall with her hands on his chest and her body pressed to his. I can’t make out what they’re saying to each other, but the smile on her face is telling enough.
I was about 6 seconds from punching Teller in the face. WHAT?!?! Are you fucking shitting me right now? After everything, you chose to let some nobody chick all up on you.
This is one of those moments when you figure out that me, Danielle, is crazy ass fuck. I would have snatched that bitch up by her hair and tossed her ass across the damn club. Teller would have had his head knocked into the wall.
But wait a hot damn minute, Gabriella is about that life…
– I almost consider until Amanda lifts her finger to Teller’s mouth and places a white tablet on his tongue.
He’s smart enough to step in front of the girl before I’m able to grab a fistful of her stringy blonde hair, but stupid enough to put himself within my reach.
Side note: My husband and I stayed at The Skylofts at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas when we got married. The suites are awesome.

DO NOT READ THE REST IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE BOOK.
And that ending…
What the flying fuck…
Joe had been fucking Kristi.
I didn’t see that one coming.
I do wonder how many people Teller had sex with before he and Gabriella decided to start having sex together. We learned about the girl from the hospital but there had to be more. Unless he spent 4-5 years not having sex, waiting on Gabriella. You know, before Kristi.
Maybe we will learn in the next book, maybe we won’t. I hope we do.
It’s been awhile since I rooted for dysfunctional love but it was worth the wait. Mary Elizabeth killed it with Closer. She slayed! I can’t wait to read Sever (Closer #2). I’m dying here.
I did pretty good I think, not too messy at all. I had fun with this one. Until next time. TTYL!
I’m all about crazy love, but you lost me at no sex, girlie! *blank stare* So, you know my tastes pretty well…should I take the plunge? I skipped the end of ur review since I haven’t read this, any idea when the next book comes out? I’m allergic to cliffys. 😂
As always, this is a fantastic review love! xoxo
The book is really good but if I knew it had a cliffhanger I would not have read it until the next book was out. It’s hard for me not to have an ending no matter if it’s good or bad. It’s supposed to come out “early 2017” whatever that means. The no sex thing works for this one. I mean eventually they do hook up. It’s like watching your best friends go through this crazy ass relationship and you just want smack the shit out of them and tell them to get it together.
Thanks, babe! I’m adding it to my hold until series is complete list. Glad you loved it! Your messy review is too good!! ❤️️❤️️
Thanks love!!! 🤗
