Side note before I get going….I want to start by saying I am so happy that this was a mixed couple. It’s always nice to see and read about. (As I myself am in a wonderful interracial marriage)

Quick summary of “Pinky Promise” by H.J. Bellus

Baylor Jones and Stayton (State) Blake
Two lost souls raised on the streets. Young children vowing to always protect each other. He was only nine but he was her protector and best friend for years.

Even when thrown in foster care he took care of her always like a king to his queen. A silent pinky promise shared between, it was their secret protection to one another.

Then one morning he was gone. Leaving Baylor on her own to battle the streets and more importantly life in the Kings all by herself.

“I will love you, even if I never see you again.”

We meet State and Baylor as 9 year olds living in a dangerous neighborhood hiding from their abusive family members. They bundle together in a closet holding on to each other for comfort and safety.

They eventually become children in the “system” where that separated because State gets adopted and has to leave Baylor behind.

At the age of 22 they find each other again and State will do anything to make Baylor “his” even though Baylor is afraid she won’t fit into his life.

Well let’s just say, State wasn’t having any of that and fought tooth and nail for the two of them to be together, FOREVER.

Their relationship progression is natural and not filled with the dramatic plots of the push and pull by the main character’s you normally find in books. I enjoyed it to my surprise.

I’ve been a wee bit of a depressing book phase. The last 3 books I read had me in my feelings so much and I needed a break. But not a book break!!! I love reading too much for that shit. I just needed a normal love story and I got it for sure.

State loves Baylor in the way all of us want to be loved….fully, completely, all consuming and just plain beautiful.

And his is sexy as fuck too!!! 💋 Icing on the motherfucking cake!!! 💋

Yep….I recommend this book 🙂

Before I go….Can we talk about this cover?!?!?! OMG, sexy, sexy, sexy. 💦💦💦I would definitely let State pick me up any day of the week and any time of day.
