What is Book of the Month?
It’s a monthly subscription service that is extremely popular throughout the book community.
How does it work?
Each and every month a group of awesome book lovers get together and select 5 books, across different genres so share with us. Every now and then they’ll throw in a book that hasn’t been released yet. This always makes me feel special, like a VIP or something.
At the beginning of the month, you’ll head over to their website and select the book that you fancy the most. If you’re not a fan of a current months book you can skip that month and a credit is added to your account which you can use the following month. If you happen to fancy more than one, you can order it as an add-on for a discounted rate. You can also choose to add-on a book from a previous month.
How much does it cost?
You get two different options. You can go with the monthly plan, like me, and get one credit a month for $14.99. If you’re brave, you can opt for the year plan that gives you 12 credits for $149.99, which saves you money in the long run. And shipping is always free!
Let’s set you have your eye set on an additional book, it’s only going to cost you $9.99.
Book of the Month often has a sale for new subscribers where your first months book is only $9.99. Feel free to use my referral link to get your book for $9.99 anytime.

The Star-Crossed Sisters of Tuscany
by Lori Nelson Spielman
Since the day Filomena Fontana cast a curse upon her sister more than two hundred years ago, not one second-born Fontana daughter has found lasting love. Some, like second-born Emilia, the happily-single baker at her grandfather’s Brooklyn deli, claim it’s an odd coincidence. Others, like her sexy, desperate-for-love cousin Lucy, insist it’s a true hex. Read more→

It happens. It’s happen to me a few times in the past. It’s a big deal. There is another option.
Beforehand, if you didn’t like one of the five books available that month you’d have to skip it. Not anymore. Now, you can pick a member favorite from one of the previous months. You can even pick an add-on if you like!
My pick for November Book of the Month 2020
I chose Pretty Little Wife by Darby Kane. It took me a while as I went back and forth about it for a good ten minutes before I added it to my cart.
I wasn’t a huge fan of November’s selections but I haven’t read a good thriller in a while and figured I’d give it a go. So far, so good. There are zero complaints from me.
I normally get an add-on as well and this month I went for Betty by Tiffany McDaniel. I chose Betty because it deals with social problems that Native Americans face every day. As a Black woman, I make it a point to understand the struggles that BIPOC face in America.
We can’t count on the school systems or the media to teach us about the marginalized groups of America, we have to do it ourselves. Betty will give me the chance to see the world through the eyes of someone other than myself and that’s very important to me.

Betty
by Tiffany McDaniel
Born in a bathtub in 1954 to a Cherokee father and white mother, Betty Carpenter is the sixth of eight siblings. The world they inhabit is one of poverty and violence—both from outside the family and also, devastatingly, from within. Read More→
