My Current Reading Playlist With Lyrics

When I read a good book, I like to have a smooth playlist in my speakers or headphones. It just sets a mood for me.

My husband can’t stand reading a book and listening to music at the same time. He finds it distracting. I don’t. Maybe it’s my damn ADHD. Who knows, right?

Here’s what I’ve been listening to this week. I hope you all love it just as much as I do. If you listen to the song and read the lyrics you’ll understand why.

Pigment by H.E.R.

The things that I would do to you with just a couple seconds
I would color every moment, make you feel like it’s forever
I’m comin’ over, so you can start undressin’
I’m givin’ you a chance to finally make a good impression
On me, yeah
On me, I’ll make you feel like it’s forever

Because it’s clear I’m getting bigger
I know you visualize my figure
I was the one that made you look
At your old girl and reconsider
You see me in that black dress
On the first date
And I’m causin’ frustration on your mind
Only in the best ways

Secretly I’m anxious, ’cause the thirst has never been mutual
It’s unusual
That someone like you thinks I’m beautiful
It’s beautiful, yeah
What we have is beautiful
Remember when you said…

The things that I would do to you with just a couple seconds
I would color every moment, make you feel like it’s forever baby
I’m coming over so you can start undressing
I hope this is my chance to finally make a good impression on you, on you

But just when you think you have forever he has you lost in your emotions
And you hate feeling so alone and you’re [?] because you know
You shouldn’t have stayed until the morning
It wasn’t worth all of the heartache
It wasn’t worth all of the pleasure
Because you once were a diamond, he made you feel like buried treasure I guess

Nothing lasts forever
Nothing lasts forever baby
Nothing lasts forever

The things that I would do to you with just a couple seconds
You colored every moment, make it feel like it’s forever
And after a while we lost a real connection
And I realized there’s others using the time we’ve been spending no more
I’m still lost, holding in all of the anger at the bottom of the ocean
And I thought you’d be my savior
I was distracted, unaware of his behavior
But when I started drowning I didn’t know he was the anchor

Ex-Factor by Lauryn Hill

It could all be so simple
But you’d rather make it hard
Loving you is like a battle
And we both end up with scars
Tell me, who I have to be
To get some reciprocity
No one loves you more than me
And no one ever will

Is this just a silly game
That forces you to act this way?
Forces you to scream my name
Then pretend that you can’t stay
Tell me, who I have to be
To get some reciprocity
No one loves you more than me
And no one ever will

No matter how I think we grow
You always seem to let me know
It ain’t workin’, It ain’t workin’ (No, it ain’t workin’)
And when I try to walk away
You’d hurt yourself to make me stay
This is crazy, this is crazy (This is crazy, uh-huh!)

I keep letting you back in
How can I explain myself?
As painful as this thing has been
I just can’t be with no one else
See I know what we’ve got to do
You let go, and I’ll let go too
‘Cause no one’s hurt me more than you
And no one ever will

No matter how I think we grow
You always seem to let me know
It ain’t workin’, It ain’t workin’ (It ain’t workin’)
And when I try to walk away
You’d hurt yourself to make me stay
This is crazy, this is crazy

Care for me, care for me!
I know you care for me!

There for me, there for me!
Said you’d be there for me!

Cry for me, cry for me!
You said you’d die for me!

Give to me, give to me!
Why won’t you live for me?!

Make You Miss Me by Sam Hunt

You hear a new song, it’s your favorite
But pretty soon you’ll be changing the station
And all your old shoes are looking brand new
They wanna be worn but they never get the chance to
Heavy into everything, ready for the next thing
To catch your eye for a while than you’re over it
You change your mind on it
Soon as the shine’s gone
Like you always do, but you don’t know it yet but

Woah, woah
I ain’t gonna be that easy to leave
Woah, woah
Girl I’m gonna make you miss me
Make you wish that you were sleeping in my shirt
Lie about my jacket and tell everyone it’s yours
When your phone rings after midnight and you’re thinking maybe it’s me
Gonna make you miss me

You’re cold and hot
You burn out like a match
Keep the slip knot and the strings you attach
You think it’s easy, but that’s a lie
The only reason that you’re good at goodbye is
Every boy you ever met, was too easy to forget
Well, I ain’t going out like that

[2x]

Writing letters that you’re never gonna mail
Stay up and paint my favorite shade of red on your nails
Cause you can’t fall asleep and you’re wishing you were with me
I’m gonna make you miss me
Make you miss me
Make you miss the way my hand fit in your hand
When you’re dialing my number listening to my favorite bands
I’ll say baby you know all you can say
Is come and get me

Gonna make you miss me
I’m gonna make you miss me
And oh, oh, oh
I’m gonna make you miss me

Tell Him by Lauryn Hill

Yo heh heh tell him it’s like uhh you know uhh
Sweet sweet tell him

Let me be patient let me be kind
Make me unselfish without being blind
Though I may suffer I’ll envy it not
And endure what comes
Cause he’s all that I got and
Tell him…
Tell him I need him (yeah)
Tell him I love him (tell him)
And it’ll be alright
Tell him be alright be alright
Tell him tell him I need him
Tell him I love him
It’ll be alright
Now I may have faith to make mountains fall
But if I lack love then I am nothin’ at all
I can give away everything I possess
But left without love then I have no happiness
I know I’m imperfect [I know I’m imperfect]
& not without sin [& not without sin]
But now that I’m older all childish things end
And tell him…
Tell him I need him (yeah)
Tell him I love him (tell him)
And it’ll be alright
Tell him be alright be alright
Tell him tell him I need him
Tell him I love him
It’ll be alright
I’ll never be jealous
And I won’t be too proud
Cause love is not boastful
Oooh and love is not loud
Tell him I need him
Tell him I love him
Everything’s gonna be alright
Ieee iee ieee iee iee iee iee iee
Now I may have wisdom and knowledge on Earth
But if I speak wrong then what is it worth?
See what we now know is nothing compared
To the love that was shown when our lives were spared
And tell him…
Tell him I need him (yeah)
Tell him I love him (tell him)
And it’ll be alright
Tell him be alright be alright
Tell him tell him I need him
Tell him I love him
It’ll be alright

Remedy by Adele

I remember all of the things that I thought I wanted to be

So desperate to find a way out of my world and finally breathe
Right before my eyes I saw, my heart it came to life
This ain’t easy it’s not meant to be
Every story has its scars

When the pain cuts you deep
When the night keeps you from sleeping
Just look and you will see
That I will be your remedy
When the world seems so cruel
And your heart makes you feel like a fool
I promise you will see
That I will be, I will be your remedy

No river is too wide or too deep for me to swim to you
Come whenever I’ll be the shelter that won’t let the rain come through
Your love, it is my truth
And I will always love you
Love you

When the pain cuts you deep
When the night keeps you from sleeping
Just look and you will see
That I will be your remedy
When the world seems so cruel
And your heart makes you feel like a fool
I promise you will see
That I will be, I will be your remedy, oh

When the pain cuts you deep
When the night keeps you from sleeping
Just look and you will see
I will be, I will be
When the world seems so cruel
And your heart makes you feel like a fool
I promise you will see
That I will be, I will be, I will be
Your remedy, oh

Silly by Deniece Williams

Silly of me to think that I
Could ever have you for my guy
How I love you
How I want you
Silly of me to think that you
Could ever really want me too
How I love you

You’re just a lover out to score
I know that I should be looking for more
What could it be in you I see
What could it be

Oh…oh…oh…love, oh, love
Stop making a fool of me
Oh…oh…oh…love, oh, love
Stop making a fool of me

Silly of me to think that you
Could ever know the things I do
Are all done for you
Only for you
Silly of me to take the time
To comb my hair and pour the wine
And know you’re not there

You’re just a lover out to score
And I know that I should be looking for more
What could it be in you I see
What could it be

Oh…oh…oh…love, oh, love
Stop making a fool of me
Oh…oh…oh…love, oh, love
Stop making a fool of me

Ooh…hoo…hoo…hoo…

Silly of me to go around
And brag about the love I’ve found
I say you’re the best
Well, I can’t tell the rest
And foolish of me to tell them all
That every night and day you call
When you could care less

You’re just a lover out to score
And I know that I should be looking for more
What could it be in you I see
What could it be

Oh…oh…oh…love, oh, love
Stop making a fool of me
Oh…oh…oh…love, oh, love
Stop making a fool of me, uh-huh

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh…ooh…ooh…silly
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh…ooh…ooh…silly

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Silly
Ooh, ooh, la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
Silly
La-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la

So High by John Legend

Baby since the day you came into my life
You made me realize that we were born to fly
You showed me everyday new possibilities
You proved my fantasies of love could really be

Let’s go to a place only lovers go
To a spot that we’ve never known
To the top of the clouds we’re floating away yeah
Ooh this feels so crazy
Oh this love is blazing
Baby we’re so high
Walking on cloud 9

(You’ve got me up so high) So high
(My shoes are scraping the sky) So high
(You’ve got me up so high) Oh
(My shoes are scraping the sky)

Maybe later we can go up to the moon
Or sail among the stars before the night is through
And when morning comes we’ll see the sun is not so far
And we can’t get much closer to God than where we are

We’ll go to a place only lovers go
To a spot that we’ve never known
To the top of the clouds we’re floating away yeah
Ooh this feels so crazy
Oh this love is blazing
Baby we’re so high
Walking on cloud 9

(You’ve got me up so high) So high
(My shoes are scraping the sky) So high
(You’ve got me up so high) Oh
(My shoes are scraping the sky)

Ooh…yeah
Ooh…oh hey

Ooh this feels so crazy
Oh this love is blazin’
Baby we’re so high
Walking on cloud 9
You got me up so high
You got me up so high
You got me up so high
My shoes are scraping the sky

You got me up so high
You got me up so high
You got me up so high
My shoes are scraping the sky ooh…ooh…
Yeah…

This is how love’s supposed to be
This is how, this is how love’s supposed to be, yeah
Let’s go to the moon baby, ooh
Let’s go to the moon baby, yeah
Let’s go, go, let’s go to the moon baby
So high…

Lately by Tyrese

I can’t imagine life
without you by my side
This is love baby that I’m feeling
and I’m hoping
that you’re feeling the same way
things tend to slip my mind
like how you like to wine and dine baby
with romantic lights you mean a lot to me
in so many ways

Lately
have I told you I love you
lately
have I told you you still mean the world to me
lately
have I told you I love you
I’ll be your wishing well
tell me what you want baby

Don’t think twice of our love
I say these things because
I love you but it’s hard to explain
and I’m hoping that you’re feeling the same way
You know that all of my
feelings are inside
and verbally I tend to forget
how much I L-O-V-E U Really means

Lately
have I told you I love you
lately
have I told you you still mean the world to me
lately
have I told you I love you
I’ll be your wishing well
tell me what you want baby

[Bridge]
Try your hardest to deal
yes I forgot but you know how I feel
things slip my mind baby that’s a fact
tell me you love me
and I’ll tell you back

Getting Late by Floetry

Baby
Ooo baby
baby,baby
ooo um baby
oh baby

[1st Verse (Natalie Talking)]
We need to um talk about where
We’re taking this thing.
How far we’re gonna let this go.
We’ve been here before.
Its getting late.

[Chorus 1 (Marsha Singing)]
It’s getting late.
Why you gotta be here?
Beside me.
Watching, needing, wanting me.
I’m afraid, (Don’t Be)
I’m afraid, (Don’t Be)
I’m so scared that you’ll hurt me, twice.
Baby, oh baby baby baby

[2nd Verse (Natalie Talking)]
Listen, I’ve already been thinking about you on my mind.
Far too often for you,
To be here at this time
You see, one hands on nine and the other’s on my thigh.
Look,I already played with the idea of you
Being here in the mornin
And the position for the crack of dawn
And the conversation before the yawning
But aah, it’s getting late.

[Chorus 2 (Marsha Singing)]

It’s getting late.
Why you gotta be here?
Beside me.
Watching, needing, wanting me.
But I’m afraid, (you say) don’t be.
But I’m afraid, (you say) don’t be.
I’m so scared that you’ll hurt me twice.
Oh Baby baby baby

[2nd Verse (Natalie Talking)]

How’s about I let you touch the space.
That you left behind,
The day that you stop smiling
The day that the tears started falling
But now were talking, touching
Almost making sensual again
We can taste the familiar,
Cause, the family hour supports it.
Of this moment, but was led by the movements cause ah
It’s getting late.

[Chorus 3 (Marsha Singing)]
It’s getting late.
Why you gotta be here?
Beside me.
Watching, needing, wanting me.
But I’m afraid, (you say) don’t be.
But I’m afraid, (you say) don’t be.
I’m so scared that you’ll hurt me twice.
Oh Baby baby baby
Oh baby twice baby baby.

[3nd Verse (Natalie Talking)]

I see the memories we replayed
Same space face bodies
I know there’s a method to your manliness
but ah I’m a afraid

[Chorus 3 (Marsha Singing)]
It’s getting late.
Why you gotta be here?
Beside me.
Watching, needing, wanting me.
But I’m afraid, you say don’t be.
But I’m afraid, and you say don’t be.
I’m afraid that you’ll gonna hurt me baby, baby twice baby

[Ending Chorus 4]
I see the memories replayed, same space, same place
Same bodies baby I know this method to your manliness
But I’m afraid, babe
I see the memories replayed, same space, same place
Same bodies baby I know this method to your manliness
But I’m afraid, baby

First Heartbreak by Tori Kelly

You never hear me singin’ love songs
Wasn’t big on poetry
Never cried in the movies
Didn’t wanna feel so weak
I would never talk about it
Never let it get too deep
But something in me’s changin’
Guess you did something to me

‘Cause for the first time I get worried
When I’m lookin’ in your eyes
That one day you might leave me
And it keeps me up at night
I guess that means I really love you
‘Cause I’m afraid to make mistakes
If you ever left me that would be my first heartbreak
Oooh ooh oooh ooh oooh ooh oooh ooh
If you ever left me that would be my first heartbreak

Maybe I shouldn’t be thinkin’ so far ahead
Better just enjoy this moment
And be happy for what I get
But you know it’s not that easy
To get out of my head
So I guess that it’s a good thing
When you want something so bad

‘Cause for the first time I get worried
When I’m lookin’ in your eyes
That one day you might leave me
And it keeps me up at night
I guess that means I really love you
‘Cause I’m afraid to make mistakes
If you ever left me that would be my first heartbreak

I wanna run I wanna stay
Hold every piece so it won’t break
Wanna let go, wanna hold tight
Afraid that I might suffocate, you with my love
How much is enough?
How much is too safe?

‘Cause for the first time I get worried
When I’m lookin’ in your eyes
That one day you might leave me
And it keeps me up at night
I guess that means I really love you
‘Cause I’m afraid to make mistakes
If you ever left me that would be my first heartbreak
Oooh ooh oooh ooh oooh ooh oooh ooh
If you ever left me that would be my first heartbreak

Follow all my crazy….
